Each character in Honkai: Star Rail has a distinct battle skill. These have varying effects depending on the character, but which is the best?

Honkai: Star Rail is the most recent Gacha game from Genshin Impact’s HoYoVerse. We’ve been introduced to a new world of characters and games that must be analyzed with the global debut. It’s time to punch your ticket and board the Astral Express, because it’s time to meet the characters.

Star Rail is very similar to Genshin, with the former featuring the same pity and wish mechanism for getting characters, among other things. There are 22 characters as of the global premiere, including the MC, Trailblazer. Each character has a Skill, which is a move used in combat to help an ally or attack a foe. It’s critical to understand where each character fits into Star Rail’s turn-based combat.

Arlan – Shackle Breaker

This ability reduces Arlan’s health by 15% of his maximum health. This increases his lightning attack from the skill by 130 percent of his ATK stat. Arlan’s skill is currently unique in Star Rail because it is the only one that does not cost a skill point.

In battle, you and your party share five Skill Points. One of those points will be used if a character’s skill is used. Arlan doesn’t utilize one, thus having him in your party means you’ll have more skill points for your other three party members. He injures himself, therefore a shield or healer is required, but he cannot kill himself with his skill.

Sampo – Ricochet Love

Sampo is a character who specializes in area-of-effect (AoE) and damage-over-time (DoT) debuffs. As a result, if you devote enough time to him, his skill becomes far more strong. Ricochet Love attacks one adversary and then bounces between them, hitting numerous of them at random. As it does so, it has a chance to apply the Wind Shear debuff, which causes wind damage on a regular basis.

Wind Shear is an excellent skill because it can stack numerous times on each adversary. You’ve probably seen enemies do this to you in battle, accumulating six instances of the burning debuff on you. Now you can pay them back with Wind Shear!

Tingyun – Soothing Melody

Tingyun is quickly rising to the top of most Honkai: Star Rail character tier rankings, thanks to her role as Honkai’s version of Bennett from Genshin Impact. Soothing Melody is an ability that boosts the damage of any chosen ally while adding an extra instance of lightning damage to their attacks.

The bonus lasts three turns and is proportional to Tingyun’s attack power. Using a good Relic set on her, you can provide a significant damage bonus to all of your allies throughout a fight. This will come in handy especially in the more difficult Simulated World levels like the Forgotten Hall.

March 7th – The Power Of Cuteness

March is a free-to-play character who appears at the start of the game and is one of the better units. Her ability, the Power of Cuteness, grants one character a powerful shield. Shields are extremely useful in Honkai: Star Rail, as they basically add a new health bar that must be drained before incurring HP damage.

Unless you get lucky with the gacha flags, March will be your sole shielder and tank for a time. Her shield increases based on her defense stat, which is ideal for her job as a versatile DPS Tank. Despite March’s annoying nature, this skill will keep you safe as you go through more difficult combat.

Clara – Svarog Watches Over You

Mr Svarog, Clara’s robot companion, is not a fool. Svarog Watches Over You does significant AoE damage to all enemies on the field. Because these missiles deal physical damage, Clara is an excellent choice for breaking and decreasing foes’ hardiness bars.

Clara’s position as a damage-dealing tank can be unpredictable. She relies on being attacked by foes to do additional harm because being hit marks the target. If these designated targets hit Clara, they will be countered, and the missiles will inflict extra damage to any marked enemy. Clara might not do as well if she isn’t the target of everyone’s rage.

Seele – Sheathed Blade

Seele, as one of the game’s original limited-banner five-star characters, is adequately overpowered in Honkai: Star Rail. Her element is Quantum, which is a vulnerability for various foes in the game, making her ideal for single-target boss and mob nuking.

Seele’s speed rises for two turns when you use Sheathed Blade, and she attacks a single target for tremendous damage. Not to mention that the attack is stylish. The finest aspect about her skill is that killing an adversary will activate her Talent, giving her extra round. Broken? Yes.

Natasha – Love, Heal, And Choose

Natasha is one of only two healers in the game for now, the other being a five-star character. Unless you were lucky and got Bailu, Natasha will be your primary healer for the majority of the game until other healers are introduced.

Her ability instantly recovers one character’s HP and grants a heal-over-time bonus for two turns. In Star Rail, healing is critical. As you might assume, every game in which you suffer damage requires a mechanism to replenish lost HP in a pinch. Suffice it to say, this skill will be critical in difficult battles.

Pela – Frostbite

Pela is another one-of-a-kind character at the time of writing because she is the only one who can remove buffs from adversaries. Her Frostbite skill deals frost damage to a single enemy while also removing any buffs they have. Her damage isn’t the best, but owing to how many foes buff themselves, you really want Pela’s combat skill.

Frostbite, while just removing one bonus and targeting one person, is vital to any team. Without Pela, you’ll discover that some foes are quite difficult to deal with due to their constant attack bonuses or one troublesome monster that may self-revive.

Bronya – Combat Redeployment

Bronya is another character who has swiftly emerged as one of the greatest in Drift Boss game since its global release. She’s a supporting character with exceptional abilities. When used on an ally, it removes one debuff, advances their turn up to act next, and grants them a damage-increasing buff for one round.

You can use this skill on Bronya, but the turn-order manipulation will not help her. As a result, it’s considerably better to use it on a character lower down the list or just before all of the enemies take their turn. Her kit is amazing as a five-star character, and the brokenness of her skill is the icing on the cake.

Bailu – Singing Among Clouds

Because there are only two healers in Honkai: Star Rail game for now, Bailu is superior to Natasha in practically every manner. Singing Among Clouds, her skill, not only has better base multipliers than Natasha’s heal, but it also heals two characters at once. While the second heal is completely random, having extra HP restoration sprinkled around is quite beneficial in any situation.

Her attacks as a Lightning user aren’t particularly impressive, and this is where Natasha’s attacks edge Bailu out. As a result, Bailu is regarded a complete healer, whereas Natasha can perform both.
